Twitteroo 1.4 is now available for download! We’re proud to announce that adding links to your tweets is now super easy since version 1.4 includes our new URL shortening tool, Rurl. The best part is, you can use it, too! Contact us if you’re interested in shrinking your own URLs with the Rurl API and visit Rurl for your day-to-day URL shortening needs at http://rurl.org.
New Features
- Includes built-in URL shortening via rurl.org
- Clicking the Taskbar notification window brings the main Twitteroo window into view
Bug Fixes
- Reduced the number of available characters from 147 to 140 (like Twitter.com)
Switched to Twitteroo 1.4 and like it so far. Let me know if/when you need multiple language support. German, Chinese and Vietnamese shouldn’t be a problem ;-).
I’ve been having problems with Twitter and GTalk. They were all solved today when I installed Twitteroo. Thanks very much. I’ll be singing your praises.
I have been having strange problems with Twitteroo… First it says I need the.NET Framework so I download and install it, but then after the Twitteroo installation it crashes and can’t start. Am I missing something?
Love the app. Have you considered using ClickOnce for deployment instead of an .MSI? Looks like you are 100% .NET. That would make installing simple as could be…
Is there an options box hidden somewhere so that I can change the transparency and font size? I saw it when I first installed, but cannot get to it now?
Also, I think it would be nice to view my friends’ screen names instead of their real names. Or maybe the option to do so?
Ditto my comment on 1.3 about the error of saying “transparency: 100%.”
Additionally, pressing Enter really should post my update instead of creating a new paragraph.
Agreed on the pressing enter comment above
Twitteroo 1.4 can’t work in Windows XP Simplified Chinese~
Love Twitteroo, but wish it added “from Twitteroo” to my posts (like Twitteriffic does).
+1 to adding “from Twitteroo”
@Twit: right-click the twitteroo icon in the system tray to change preferences
suggestion: twitter currently automatically changes any URL over 30 characters long to a tinyurl. you should do the same w/ rurl. it’s a great service, but get rid of the extra click!
Am i supposed to get “bubble” notifications from the tray like Twitteriffic? I’m not seeing anything unless I pull the app up out of the tray, and missing lots of highly useless friend updates
Richard G:
Do you have transparency set for notifications?? I’ve noticed that when I set mine to anything other than 100% (does anyone else find 100% transparency == visible confusing??) I no longer get the notifications. Not sure but I’m guessing it’s a bug of some kind.
Suggestion for transparency. Only do transparency when twitteroo window is not the currently active window.
Add me to the vote for = . Perhaps you could do an Alt- if you wanted a hard return.
BTW: Transparency is working fine on my system (Vista/Areo Glass) set at 70%.
Just like Wong Renhao (and like in v1.3), Twitteroo installs perfectly but can’t start. I can see the app appearing and almost instantly disappearing in the Task Manager. I have tried to desinstall/reinstall, but to no avail.
If this can help, I’m using WinXP SP2; I have a suspicion this may be due to one of these two possibilities:
* I use a French version of Windows
* I installed Twitteroo in a custom folder (but I also tried to install it without changing any default)
Do not hesitate to contact me if you need more information
this is a cool app, but any chance of making the enter key upload to twitter, like twitterrific does on the mac?
When I start Twitteroo I get a ‘Twitteroo has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience’ eror message with the Send Error Report stuff. I reinstalled and it didn’t fix. I’d love to use this app, so please email me at kyle*dot*isamurai*at*gmail*dot*com if you know how I can solve this problem. Thanks.
Twitter Tools…
There’s been a lot of hype lately about Twitter. I joined a few months ago when Chris Brogan invited me, but I never really got into it. It felt a little cumbersome to use since at the time you could only update and access the service via a w…
Does the twitter .net api support direct messages? I can’t find it in the docs.
When using the TwitterrooCore DLL, once I create the object and am logged in, is there any way to get to the userpic url? For instance, if the current users has posted recently and shows up in the Friends timeline, the can obviously display that pic for both whatever tweet it was in the timeline and also in the other location I want. But if the current user isn’t in that timeline, I’m stuck… Short of have code to log the user into twitter.com’s website and getting the pic from there, I’m kind of at a loss….
