GMobileSync Code

( General and Code )

GMobileSync is officially open-source. You can get involved with the project at CodePlex. I will still be contributing and maintaining releases. (Heck, I still need the program too for my mobile!) If you’re one of the several developers who have contacted me in the last few months offering to help… now is your chance! GMobileSync […]

Update coming soon

( General )

Hi everyone,
An update is coming soon! I’ve been stuck in Florida for the past few days due to weather in the North and weird scheduling delays. Nicole and I cannot get out until this upcoming Tuesday. Thank you, everyone, for all of the emails and messages with ideas and suggestions for GMobileSync!

Windows Mobile 6.0

( General )

I was reading an article for my thesis (finding more references) and a link for Windows Mobile 6 came streaming across my screen. How could I resist clicking? I couldn’t

Engadget has a bunch of screenshots of Windows Mobile 6.0 on their site. I doubt we’ll be able to upgrade phones… has anyone ever […]

San Marcos from a Samsung Blackjack

( General )

Jeff, a GMobileSync user, took this video of San Marcos from his Samsung Blackjack… strapped to the back of an R.C. plane! It gets really good just after the first minute when you can clearly see video of San Marcos from a couple hundred feet in the air.
There are also pictures on Jeff’s Flickr.

Quick Update

( General )

Hi everyone,
I’m working feverishly on my graduate thesis and have been dedicating a lot of time to that. Once I turn in the next draft this weekend, I’ll be back to GMobileSync!
Two-way sync is working pretty well on my machine. I finally ordered another GB of RAM so I could debug and run the Mobile […]

Has GMobileSync made your life easier?

( General )

People have been asking for a way to donate to the GMobileSync effort for a couple of weeks now. In fact, I’ve received a lot of emails and comments asking. If you’re feeling generous, please feel free to donate. Your donations help the GMobileSync effort!
I’ve added a PayPal button to accept donations of any amount.

Are […]

Ironing out 1.3 issues

( General )

Thank you, everyone, for helping me beta test GMobileSync 1.3!
I am working on all of the reported issues. First, I have to find or be able to replicate them which is going along pretty well.
The slowest part of this process is testing locally with the Emulator. Oh well, Last.fm and MSDN documentation keeps me entertained […]

Call for beta testers!

( General )

GMobileSync 1.3 will be ready for beta testing tonight (January 8th, 2007). I need a few people who are willing to test out the two way synchronization functionality and report back their findings.
Conditions to test:

Sync when an event exists only on Google Calendar. Make sure it gets copied to PocketOutlook correctly.
Sync when an event exists […]

Germany, anyone?

( General )

In an effort to release the highest quality software, I won’t be releasing GMobileSync 1.3 (with two-way sync) until after the New Year. Nicole and I will be in Germany on holiday from the 26th of December until January 4th.
Look for GMobileSync 1.3 with two-way synchronization on Monday, January 8th!
If anyone will be in Magdeburg […]

2:27am is a good time to write code.

( General )

Just a quick Christmas Eve update—
I’m working on two-way synchronization right now! Nicole and I took a trip to see some family and we figured out a nice algorithm during the car ride. It’s a near perfect way to always get the most up-to-date information to propagate either to Google Calendar or to the SmartPhone.
