GMobileSync 1.3.5

Posted on Tuesday 4 December 2007

Sampath and I are testing GMobileSync 1.3.5 with a select group of beta testers as of today.

GMobileSync 1.3.5 includes the following updates:

  • Better two-way synchronization support
  • Recurring appointment updates
  • Deleted appointments stay deleted
  • Additional timezone support (including 30 and 45 minute intervals)

We’ll keep everyone updated with 1.3.5’s progress!

    Hi,
    I’m very happy with your Sync solution. However 2-way sync is a must for me. When are you planning to release te 1.3 version. Or will a beta version be available for less advanced :) users.

    Basher, you can download v1.3 beta from http://codeplex.com/gmobilesync to test two-way sync. Version 1.3.5 is the same as v.1.3 but with some improvements on stability and a few more minor features.

    Installed today ver 1.3.5. on a HTC Touch with Dual ROM (all German versions)
    Here the feedback/issues:
    1) When installing the NETCFv2 first, it said: “there is a newer version already installed”. Fine!
    2) Installing GMobileSync: no problem
    3) Starting the app, no problem
    4) Trying the “Settings” under “Options”: an error message occurred and I had to close the app
    5) Restarting and pressing the tab “Credentials” by curiosity, the window for “Settings” opened! Entered the Goggle access data
    6) Syncing: no probelms; 2 items from the Google calendar were downloaded and 44 events from my Touch entered into the Google calendar; a few day events had the time fault (4 hours diff.)
    7) at the end of the syncing process an error message occurred: “Please report: ‘NullReferenceException’”
    8) Checking the Google calendar: The entries were there, even the recurring ones! Also the two events from the Google calendar were added onto my Touch. Super!!!
    9) Cancelling the two original Google calendar entries (events) on the Google calendar
    10) Syncing again, the two entries (events) were cancelled from my Touch, the new 44 Google entries (events) previously uploaded from my Touch onto the Google calendar were now downloaded and entered onto my Touch, i.e. those events were now two times on my Touch
    11) Cancelling the double entries on my Touch manually
    12) Syncing again: the cancelled entries of my Touch were also cancelled on my Google calendar; except for a few all day events, the Google calendar is empty again
    13) Syncing again: Looking for local changes: 44 events are identified, before uploading them then the known error message: “Please report: ‘NullReferenceException’”
    14) No event transferred to the Google calendar, ergo my Google calendar remains eventually empty!

    Answer to Klaus
    Regarding to the hours diff you can edit the file .xml in the appdata folder of your pda and change the utcoffset to yours (if GMT+4 also change to4)

    Awww, I installed 1.3.6 and there’s still no option for “check on startup.”

    This makes automating gmobilesync impossible:(

    Hi,

    I’m very happy to have found this application, it’s a very usefull one.
    I’ve got some problems to use it with my Tytn (WM6). I’ve downloaded version 1.3.5.

    1) when I select “Setting menu” I get the following error : “une erreur inattendue s’est produite dans gmobilesync.exe” if I choose the details button I’ve got the messages : “ArgumentOutOfRangeException…
    System.Collections.ArrayList.Insert() at ObjectCollection.Insert() … RareEdge.frmSettings.frmSettings_Load()..
    System.Windows.Forms.Form.Onload() …
    System.Windows.Forms.Form._setVisibleNotify() …
    System.Windows.Forms.Control.set_Visible() …
    System.Windows.Forms.Form.ShowDialog()
    RareEdge.frmMain.mnuSettings_click() …
    System.Windows.Forms.MenuItem.OnClick() … System.Windows.Forms.Menu.ProcessMnuProc() ..
    System.Windows.Forms.Form.WnProc() .. System.Windows.Forms.Control._InternalWnProc() .. Microsoft.AGL.Forms.EVL.EnterMainLoop() …
    System.Windows.Forms.Application.run() …
    RareEdge.Program.Main()

    2) when I synchronize the programs import the events form Google Agenda to mobile, It search for local modified events, start to export the event from the mobile to the google agenda and fails after the second event.

    Thanks for your help.

    Works really well (been using it for about a month) on HTC Touch.

    Ran into an error:
    “Please report this error: Cannot add a recipient with an empty or null name to a recipient collection.”

    Otherwise, works perfectly — keep up the great work!

    Hello, your application download link seems not to work currently (I’m using Firefox 2 on Linux).
    I would like to test the new beta version on an HTC S620 with WM6.

    Best regards, Thilo

    Fantastic app. Been working fine with my HTC Touch. untill.
    Now has stoped updating google and I have two error messages

    (I have an event. NEC. which will not go away, instead it just occupies more dates at random. I have now deleted it but Gmbilesync knows its there)

    Connection via USB cable.
    It downloads events
    Removing(NEC)
    Found 1 local update …. crash
    “An error message cannot be displayed because an optional resorce asseembly containing it cannot be found” this appears twice.

    So I used GPRS. AND:-
    ObjectDisposedException
    System.Windows.Forms.Control.Invoke
    Helper()
    at RareEedge.fmMain.Synchronize()

    Can you tell me the difference between your software and Oggsync? Oggsync already allows me to sync my google calendar with my WM5, both ways.

    Thanks!

    Sorry, but this tool ist Shit. Version 1.2 stopped in the middle of Synchronisation (result: no synchronisation), Version 1.3 worked, but after synchronisation EVERY(!) appointment appears twice and Version 1.3.5 (test- version) shows an error after opening the settings. I tried it with TWO pocket pc`s: mio p550 and t-mobile mda vario.
    Bummer! because the idea behind this tool is great.

    Please, PLEASE add option for check on startup as you already have an option for close after check, PLEASE, or at least a parameter!

    For some reason, I get reminders on my phone for all events that are taken off my google calendar, even though i’ve never set any reminders. I confirmed that reminders are not set in google calendar via the web. this is on a blackjack with the stock windows mobile 5.0 rom and gmobilesync 1.3.6 beta. Any ideas? Is it a bug?

    otherwise seems to work great! I would LOVE to have multi-calendar support too.

    1.3.6 has the problem, at least on moto q9c wm6, of not using the UTC offset despite saving it in the file. It shows blank in settings regardless of showing in the .xml, and is not used.

    Is there a full feature list somewhere? I can’t seem to find one. I’m trying to find out if GMobileSync supports syncing multiple calendars.

    I would love to see this on WM2003, as I have an Axim X30 that has more than enough power and storage to do anything I’d ever want from it, although Dell flatly refused to update it to WM 5. How difficult would the move be to the slightly older platform?

    Hi,

    When I go to “Settings” I get an error:
    ArgumentAutOfRangeException
    System.Collection.Insert()
    - RareEdge.frmSettings.frmSettings_Load()

    maybe you can fix that in some of the next versions

    1.3.6 is broken in that UTC is not saved no matter what, so all of your appointments are off.

    this is on wm6 and 6.1 on a q9c

    To echo what I’ve read above: on my moto q 9c, the offset is not respected by 1.3.6, or 1.3.5 for that matter. It is, however, stored in the xml config file.

    Even more interesting is that if I make the appt. a recurring one, even if it ends on the same day it begins (thusly becoming a single event), then the offset is respected.

    I have no C# skills, and not enough time to learn right now, so I can’t help currently. This seems like it would be easy to solve, however.

    Thanks for an otherwise great app, though!
